A Night to Remember: Our Techno Adventure in Dubai

Hey, I'm Marco, a 22-year-old from Portugal. My girlfriend and I had planned a vacation to Dubai, and we were eager to experience everything the city had to offer - day and night. As huge techno fans, we wanted to dive into the local techno scene. I started by checking out some techno fan pages from Dubai, but it wasn’t easy finding anything that caught our eye. Then I stumbled upon @raversindubai and decided to message them. This was back in June, so understandably, there wasn’t anything scheduled for our trip dates in September. However, they told me to message them when we arrived, so I did just that.

As soon as we landed in Dubai, I reached out to them again. They replied quickly, telling me they were hosting a party at an inflatable nightclub! They also directed me to message Bart, who could help guide us to some of the best parties. After chatting with Bart and explaining our situation, we exchanged numbers, and he told me about the upcoming Spaceman Festival. He said it was the best event happening that night. I therefore decided to contact the Spaceman Festival team via WhatsApp and managed to secure guest spots for both my girlfriend and me. Bart even connected me with another RID member, Fahad and suggested I reach out to Fahad once we arrived at Yumé, and little did I know just how incredible that decision would be.

Our Expectations

During the week leading up to the festival, we tried searching for techno clubs but didn’t have much luck. We asked around but mostly found Latin music spots or places that weren’t quite our vibe, like "Pier 7." As a result, we never ventured out at night - except for the Spaceman Festival. Because of this, our expectations were a bit mixed. We thought the party would either be absolutely amazing or a total letdown.

The Night of the Festival

We arrived at the venue around 22h30. The place was mostly empty, with just a few people seated at tables. However, the space itself was stunning - huge, beautifully designed and the music was already good. I made my way to the stage and started dancing. Fahad arrived around 00h30 and that’s when the party really kicked off. We introduced ourselves, and soon after, Bart and Arham showed up. They were incredibly friendly, and with their arrival, the energy of the rave skyrocketed.

One of the best things about raves is meeting new people, and that night, we really helped everyone have an unforgettable time. My girlfriend was constantly helping others with her fan, and I was on the dancefloor, sharing my happiness with everyone around us. We definitely made the night special for a lot of people.

As the party was winding down, we started thinking about an after-party but didn’t know where to go. That’s when Fahad came up to us and told us we were heading to a yacht for the after-party, with Yanna, one of the DJs from the festival.

While we were gathering everyone and taking photos at the end of the festival, many people came up to thank us for the amazing energy we brought to the night. The most heartwarming moment was when a guy named Abu Bakar approached us. He told me that he’d been feeling down but that our energy completely turned his night around, giving him one of the best experiences of his life. He asked if he could join us for the after-party, and of course, we said yes.

The yacht after-party was everything we could have hoped for - good music, great company, and breathtaking views. We chilled on top of the yacht, danced until we couldn’t anymore, and by the end of it, I was covered in sweat - a sure sign of an awesome night. Around 8 in the morning, we decided to call it a night. We walked for a bit to cool down before catching a taxi, but not before planning a walk on the beach and some cold chai later in the day with our new found raver friends.
